Terms of Service

1. Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and StitchCraft ("we", "us", "our") — the operator of the website, the studio and everything we sell through them, trading under the name "StitchCraft". By using the service, with or without an account, you agree to these Terms. Please read them before you start. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Service Description

StitchCraft ("we", "us") turns photos into cross stitch patterns: stitchable charts with real DMC floss colours, skein estimates, fabric maths and print-ready exports.

• Converting photos into charts is free and unlimited. No account is required and there is no cap on how many patterns you make.
• An account lets you save projects, hold a credit balance, and buy a plan or a credit pack.
• The AI tools — which redraw a photo or generate an image before it is converted — are optional and are paid for in credits.

StitchCraft is an independent product and interface layer. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any AI model provider.

3. Accounts and User Obligations

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and you are responsible for what happens under it, including keeping your password and any API keys secret. Give us accurate registration details, use the service lawfully, and tell us promptly at support@crossstitchpatternmaker.app if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, abuses the free tier or the AI tools, attempts to defraud our payment providers, or is used unlawfully. Where we close a paid account for reasons other than a breach, we refund the unused portion of the current period.

4. Credits

Credits are the unit that pays for AI runs. The price of a run — in credits — is always shown before you start it and depends on the model and options you pick.

• Where credits come from. A free trial run for a first-time anonymous visitor, a signup bonus for a new account, a subscription plan, or a one-time credit pack.
• Plan credits expire. The allowance attached to a subscription is valid for that billing period and does not roll over into the next one.
• Pack credits do not expire while your account is open.
• Credits are consumed oldest-first, so an expiring plan allowance is used before pack credits you bought.
• Failed runs are refunded. If a run fails, times out or is cancelled by us, the credit it consumed returns to your balance automatically.
• Credits have no cash value. They cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged for money outside of the refund terms below.

5. Subscriptions, Billing, and Cancellation

Plans are sold as monthly or yearly subscriptions and are charged in advance through our payment provider. Prices are shown on the pricing page in US dollars, excluding any tax that your jurisdiction requires us or our provider to add.

• A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price, until you cancel. By subscribing you authorise us to collect the plan price this way, automatically at the start of each period, through our payment provider, until you cancel.
• You can cancel at any time from your billing settings. Cancellation stops the next renewal; you keep access and the current period's credits until that period ends.
• If we change the price of a plan you are on, the new price applies from your next renewal and we will tell you beforehand.
• Failed payments may suspend access to paid features until the payment succeeds.

6. Refunds and Support

Write to us within 14 days of a charge and we will refund it, less any credits already spent on AI runs — so an unused year on a yearly plan is mostly still refundable. Refund requests go to support@crossstitchpatternmaker.app from the email address on your account, and we typically reply within 3 business days. Statutory rights in your country apply on top of this policy, and nothing here limits them.

7. Your Content

You keep every right you already have in the photos you upload and in the patterns, charts and exports you produce with StitchCraft. We claim no ownership of them.

You grant us only the permission we need to run the service: to store the content you submit and the results produced for you, and to process them through the service providers described in the Privacy Policy.

Patterns you create are yours. You may stitch them, give them away, sell finished pieces, and sell the pattern itself — no attribution or licence fee is owed to us. Two limits apply. First, an output is only as free as its input: a chart made from a photo you do not own may still infringe someone else's copyright, and that is your responsibility. Second, you may not resell or redistribute the StitchCraft service itself — for example by offering pattern conversion to third parties through our site as if it were your own.

8. Intellectual Property

The StitchCraft name, logo, site design and software belong to us. Skein estimates and colour matches are approximations — check them against physical floss before buying in bulk.

9. Acceptable Use and Prohibited Content

StitchCraft must not be used to create harmful imagery. This section is the acceptable-use policy for the service; it covers every photo you upload, every prompt you type and every image the AI tools generate.

Prohibited content categories. The AI tools must never be used to generate:

1. Pornography / NSFW content — sexually explicit imagery, or nude or sexualised renderings of real people, even of yourself or of fictional characters. StitchCraft is a family-friendly craft tool.
2. Violence / gore — gratuitous gore, torture, mutilation or extreme injury, or imagery glorifying violent acts.
3. Hate speech — content that attacks, dehumanises or demeans people because of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation or age.
4. Child-unsafe content (CSAM) — any sexualisation of a minor, in any framing. Zero tolerance: no exceptions, no second chances.
5. Deepfakes / impersonation — photorealistic depictions of real, identifiable people without their consent, including face swaps and fabricated images of public figures.
6. Content infringing copyright or trademarks — uploading photos, artwork, characters or logos you have no right to use, or generating images that reproduce protected characters, logos or trademarks.

Zero tolerance. Child sexual abuse material, non-consensual sexualised deepfakes, terrorist or mass-violence propaganda, and incitement to genocide or ethnic hatred are blocked on sight: the account is terminated without warning and, where the law requires, evidence is preserved and reported to the authorities.

Attempts count as violations. Rephrasing a prompt to slip past a filter, submitting partial imagery to be completed into prohibited content, or iterating edits toward a banned result is itself a breach. The tools must not be used to bypass safety systems, and prompts engineered to do so are prohibited.

Other prohibited uses. Do not: process photos of people in a way that breaks privacy or biometric law; circumvent credit limits, the free trial run, rate limits or payment; scrape, resell or automate access to the service outside of a documented API key; probe, overload or attack our infrastructure or our providers'.

How content is reviewed. Every prompt and every generated image passes automated safety screening on both our infrastructure and the model provider's side: inputs are checked against the image model's content policy in real time before generation starts, and outputs are filtered before delivery — there is no unmoderated passthrough to the raw model. Rate limits, free-trial rules and abuse checks catch bulk and evasion behaviour. Content that is flagged automatically, rejected by the provider or reported by users is additionally reviewed by our team, and we periodically sample refused runs and closed reports to keep the filters accurate.

Reporting violations. Report content that breaks these rules to support@crossstitchpatternmaker.app (subject line "Content report") or through your support tickets. Zero-tolerance reports are actioned immediately; other reports are reviewed within 3 business days. We keep reporters' identities confidential and may restrict accounts that submit malicious or bad-faith reports.

Enforcement and appeals. Violating runs are refused and violating content is removed; credits consumed by a refused or removed run are not refunded. Depending on severity we may warn the account holder, restrict features, suspend the account or close it permanently; creating a new account to evade an enforcement action is itself a violation. If your run was refused or your account restricted by mistake, reply to the failure notice or email support@crossstitchpatternmaker.app and we will review the appeal.

10. AI Tools

The AI tools call a third-party image model on your behalf. Because generative models are probabilistic:

• Results vary and are not guaranteed. A run may return something you dislike, or something unusable. A completed run that produced an image is not refundable on aesthetic grounds; use your free trial run to see the quality before buying credits.
• We cannot promise a result is unique. Similar prompts can produce similar images for other users.
• Availability depends on our provider. If the provider is down we mark runs as failed and return the credits.

11. Privacy and Data Protection

Our privacy practices are described in the Privacy Policy. In short, collection is minimal: anonymous use of the free conversion needs no account, while signed-in users' data is retained for account features, billing and security.

12. Service Availability

We work to keep StitchCraft available and correct, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the service. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Your saved projects live in your browser's local storage. Clearing site data, switching browsers or using private browsing can remove them. Export anything you care about.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for lost profits or lost data.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions; where that is the case, these limits apply only as far as the law allows.

14. Termination

You may stop using StitchCraft at any time and delete your account from your settings. Deleting your account cancels any active subscription at the end of the current period, forfeits remaining credits, and removes your account record and task history as described in the Privacy Policy.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the revised Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the place where the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here removes consumer protections you have where you live.
